When asked to explain why Broker Owner Melissa Roach
decided to name her new office Sterling Properties of Wisconsin, LLC she said,
“Sterling means untarnished, top quality, and that is the reputation I have
built since becoming a Realtor 18 years ago.”
Melissa has actually been in sales and marketing for 27
years. She began her real estate career as a part-time receptionist in a local
office. Seeing her potential immediately, she was urged by the broker to get her
license. Melissa has been a top producer ever since she took that advice.
“I don’t want my clients to settle for simply being
satisfied with the service I provide them,” Melissa said. “I want them to be
delighted.”
When she decided to open her own office, the first choice
she had to make was whether or not to become part of a franchise or to open an
independent office. While Melissa acknowledges that there are two schools of
thought on the subject, she said that she felt that with so many resources
available industry wide to support independent brokers, she didn’t feel the
need to go the franchise route.
‘I decided to direct my energy and my financial resources
to build local recognition rather then focusing on national recognition. I’m
really in business to serve the local market.” Melissa explained.
Melissa has very definite ideas of where her priorities
lie. Building her office from the ground up, she has hired Realtor Nancy
Guarascio to be her office coordinator. Melissa expressed great admiration for
her first hire. That feeling is mutual.
“Melissa is one of the most honest and hardworking
professionals I have worked with. Given my prior management background I thought
working together to develop a new office would be and exciting challenge.”
Nancy said.
And as for recruiting other agents, Melissa stressed
the number of agents she can attract is not her primary concern.
“I don’t want to be able to say that I have the biggest
office in Kenosha, I just want to be able to say I have the best.”
